Hi,
I am wondering if you smart people can help me.

I traded for a 1972 Slickcraft ss195 this past summer.

I put new flooring and carpet in it.

I put new seats in it.

However, I have questions.

#1 I was told the motor is a ford 302, can I go to the auto parts store and buy valve cover gaskets, ignition parts, sparkplugs , etc. for a 1972 mustang with a 302? Will everything be the same?

#2 I think it has a mercruser outdrive, the labels are gone but I think it to be a mercruiser, is it?

#3 I hit a stump the last time I had it out and need to get the propeller repaired. I figure to buy another one for the boat just in case.
what I get of the prop is a 15 3/4 x17 prop. Where in the hell do I find one of these.

#4 is there an online resoure other than this forum where I can find info.

Ayuh,... The valve cover gaskets will be the same. Igntion parts Won't be, it's Not a Ford igntion, it's Marine/Mercruiser... If it's a Mercruiser motor...

IF it is a Merc, it'll be the 188 or 888 drive, which are the old Model 1 drives..

Buy the Pitch you need, that fits your drive... The diameter will work itself out...

Right up in the Adults Only section of this forum,... Manual #1 I think covers your driveline...
If it's a Mercruiser,...

Btw,.... That's a Sweet Hull,...
A Bud of mine has 1 that We yanked the 3.0l / Mod.1 drive out of it,+ dropped in a 350MPI,+ a late model Alpha drive...
Test driving that hull is Always a Pleasure for Me.......;)

Re: 1972 slickcraft 195ss questions

1. Some of the ignition parts will be different for your engine, as marine distributors are used.
2. You really need to find out for sure, as it will effect which parts you need. Pictures would help, of the engine and the drive.
3. Go over to the iboats prop forum, all kinds of prop info and links to new props there.
4. What kind of information are you looking for? Without knowing for sure what you have, it's really hard to give exact information.

I hope by "waiting till the ice melts" you don`t mean this
download the manuals and learn all there is to protecting the motor and drive.
