Re: HELP! 25 hp evinrude!

I'd offer him 3 for it, I bought a running electric start big twin 40 + a parts motor and spare starter for $200 in the summer, this seems like a christmas money recovery price.

Ah good ole NJ, remember my trip to Newark well :D

I live 20 mins from Ottawa Ontario, that motor looks like a 74.

I just pm'd you a motor that's about 1.5 hrs from here, 33hp electric start evinrude that's been redone for $150.

That being said, those 25 are fine runners, smooth and quiet, light wieghted compared to power and reliable. If things are like he says i would talk a little price with him. Not familiar with your exact type of boat, but a 25 on a 14 sounds like a fine combination to me. If this is a fresh water motor, even better.

It looks a lot like a motor that was on eBay a month ago. Inspect motor prior to price negoitiating. Bring along compression tester, spark tester and listen to it run in a barrell, these motors don't run on muffs.

Pull one plug wire at a time while it's running, it shouldn't tumble or fall on it's a**. If it does, run, do not walt away.

That being said, these are reliable motors. I've got a 20 and a 25, both 72's that I use on my 14 ft Grumman. Run great with little maintaince.
