2000 Johnson 25 hp

Only when idling my 2000 25 hp johnson fouls the spark plugs. Mixture is 50:1
Was told to change mixture but want to stick by the book. Also was told that butterfly in carb not opened enough at idle. Anyone have anything that may help? Just got the boat from my dad and havent takin it out yet.

Welcome to iboats.
you should be using only Champion QL77JC4 spark plugs, gapped at .030, if doing a lot of slow running, like trolling open the gap to .035 still fouling, go to .040. if using anything else change them. NAPA autoparts carries Champion plugs.

Thank you very much. I set the gap to .035 and that fixed the problem runs great now Thanks Daddy!!!!
