1996 Evinrude 115 stalls on acceleration

My '96 115 (Model E115SLEDR) is stalling every time I try to accelerate. This occurs no matter how warmed up the engine is. The engine was originally VRO, but the oil line has been disconnected and I pre-mix now. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

How long has it been since the carbs were rebuilt?
Does the primer bulb pump up firm on the fuel line?

Hi Gary. The carbs have not rebuilt since I have had the motor (3 years) but have replaced the bowls and gaskets due to leaks. The primer bulg does tighten up as it should. I have noticed this problem getting progressively worse over the past year, but never was this bad. Lost an anchor recently due to inability to get the motor going in time to get it unstuck.

I would start with a compression test, followed by spark test, then look at the fuel system.

If the compression test looks good and the spark tests good,the spark plugs all look the same then maybe its time for the carbs to be gone through.
I do mine every 2 to 3 years.
Once you do it once it really is not a hard job.

You may want to invest in a factory service manual too...they are priceless!

Agree with the carb rebuild and cleaning 100% for maintenance sake anyway. Have you tried pumping the fuel bulb when trying to accelerate ??

Thanks guys. I will definitely look into carb rebuilds. I actually do have a factory manual for this engine already and, you are correct, they are priceless. That manual has already saved me alot of money nad spared many headaches.
