Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

I finished sanding, it only took 3 days 9 hours each. I also put down the first coat of paint. It really made the sanding worth it. I should have a great finish. I sprayed the coat last night about ten o-clock.

I think it will really set of the lines and curves of the boat

Why not just bring the black all the way down to the bottom of the transom with a bigger radius I think it would look cool with the transom black and a bigger color offset on the side (more noticable) but it's looking good.

I will moc that up and see what it looks like. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well I finished the white paint today! It looks great! I am going to take the suggestion to paint the entire transom black and bring the side black down to the bottom at the back of the boat. I did it up in paint on the computer and really like the way it looks. The photos of the last coat of white and what the decided black design will be posted below. I am getting near putting everything back in the boat! I am getting pumped!!

The last coat of white.

Does any one know if Four Winns sells Chrome emblems? I am thinking of instead of putting stickers on that say Four Winns of putting on 3D plastice chrome emblems.

Solar that black all the way down to the bottom and the transom black looks better that I suggested and the color contrast looks great on that hull and yes chrome emblems would set it off perfectly try a company that prints lithograhs maybe they can help or a machine shop w/ c-n-c capabilities (stainless emblems polished up ?) keep up the good work

Juniinc- Yea I found those on ebay last night, I like them but what I really want is 3D chrome standoffs like cars have. I think it would really pop. I cant find any for Four Winns so I may have to have them made or go with those bubble stickers like you found there.

Then i got to the painting!!!! It only took about an hour to lay the paint down.....i used 1qt of black total. I only put down two quick coats since there was no base needed since i already did the white and put the black over it.

Then when the paint set up to the point that it was tacky, I removed the tape plastic and tape. In my experience in any painting if you remove the tape before the paint completely drys you get better lines and dont cause any damage as you can it the paint is dry.

Solar that looks sleek and classy if that's a statement? but when I saw your 1st layout Iknew from there it would look more pronounced if the curve extended to the bottom of the transom and the entire transom being black I love it and you did a great job! Not to flashy and the perfect contrast. And by the way the bone yard is a little to far out for me and when I looked over thier web site I wasn't to impressed but how impressed can you get from a bone yards web site. Thanx anyway.

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

Fat Fanny..Thanks! yea I really like the way it came out! The flar at the bow was a last min change and it really seems to give the bow a differant shape when you are looking straight at it. I think it just enough black that it will make all the chrome from the kleets and trim pop and the all back transom will really make the teak swim deck look great!!

I have a few spots to fix cause the plastic covering the white areas had little holes that let black over spray get on it but its a easy fix.
