Hello, My retirement boat just came in! 2004 15 Boston Whaler Sport.

I need some advise for setting my boat up.

The Kings run deep here, and I like to buy a pair of down riggers, I like the Scotty line up, but only have one battery, would that be enough to run the down riggers and a small fish finder?

Also, where is the very best spot to have them mounted?

If any one has pics of the same boat set up with down riggers, it sure would help.

I am running with a 60 Mercury 4 stroke, man it moves!

If you have rails you could go with this setup...keeps the riggers high and outside so they are not in the way.

If you don't have rails...most people mount a board across the stern from port to starboard and then mount the downriggers on that board to get them high enough to clear the gunwales.

You will want them in the aft corners of the rig to keep the lines out as far as possible. This will help keep them from tangling in case you have to turn sharply, or have a fish on one that swims near the other lines.

If you post some pictures of your boat that will help get some ideas too:)

Never seen that before...I replaced the image with another shot of a rail-mounted downrigger.

I will be adding a board across the stern of my 16' SS for downriggers. I may also opt for planer boards as well, haven't decided. The planer boards get your lines out away from the boat more, so as to not spook the fish with the shadow of the boat.
