Can anybody give me a ballpark figure?

Interested in the boat posted above, after talking to the owner I came to the conclusion he is your typical "I don't know boater"
This is what I know...Interior needs replaced (supposedly the deck and transom are solid but we know how that goes don't we?)
Volvo penta I/O....when I asked what engine it had he replied "4 cylinder"
I figured it best to not even attempt to ask what outdrive it had.
He also informed me the trim pump was bad according to the marina he took it to.
Get this ...he informed me they just lift the outdrive by hand when they need to...seems to work fine that way......huh silly me.
The question I have can anybody give me a ballpark figure on a trim pump?
I know its hard without knowing the outdrive but I would like to try to get a ballpark figure of what I am looking at before I make the drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW this would be my first non-mercruiser.

Sounds like it's probably a 270T drive and they do not have trim pumps. They use a rod that pushes the drive up. Thus being able to lift by hand.

Sounds like the mechanic was not to up on the boat you took him.

Pictures and serial numbers will be the best bet to get the information you are looking for. And maybe a year model.

Ayuh,... If the Trailer is worth $500. to you,... Buy it...

Otherwise,.. I'd pass on it... It's probably the old Volvo 4 cylinder(B-series),+ mechanical lift outdrive...

there are a couple different hydraulic pumps used on the older Volvos.

From what I could find, you're looking at $650 to $900 for a new pump depending on which outdrive you have.

Even though they did have hydraulic power trim, the drive could still be manually lifted by hand.

As stated, Pics and/or a model number are needed to properly identify.

Ebasicpower has the older pump motors for around the 150 range.
Who knows what setup is on that boat though.

My totally cynical outlook says the owner is probably putting on their best act. My bet is they know all about all what is wrong and what would make it right and they are fishing for their perfect (i.e. ignorant/monied) buyer.

I'm just sayin'...

Yeah thats what i figured too, but I don't have any experience with anything but mercruisers.
Thought I would see what everybody had to say......think I'll pass on this one.

500 obo? give him 350.... even if boat is shot, sell the trailer for 350 and youll make your money back... if she runs ...and it looks good to me. go for it!!

Agree offer 350. Then take home and part out on ebay. Take money and buy different boat. Those volvo parts are pretty pricey. I know the out drive will bring at least 500.
