Re: Conversion from oil injector to premix

Thanks alot for the guiding! Hope to do this when the snow is gone here in Norway. I am a little worried though because of all the warnings posted in here but arent there a bunch of people removing the Auto Lube/Precision Blend system? Maybe if one of them is reading this thread, they can give us their toughts and experiences.

Re: Conversion from oil injector to premix

the precision blend system works and works very well even though its usually the most neglected system on the boat.
on the 2,3 and 4 cylinder models the oil is injected into the reed box after the carburators.
on the 2 stroke V6 it gets funny.
OX66 motors mix the oil in the vapor seperator and inject the fuel oil mix into the intake,on HPDI motors the oil is injected into the reed box area and on the v6 carbed motors oil is injected into the reed box area.
I wont get into removing the system as it usually leads to an argument but basically you disable the pump drive, disable the low oil alarm circuits and premix at 50 to 1.
AETO and BETO are international model codes and sometimes a bit different than US model motors.
I usually wont disscuss international models without at least some good pictures of the motor.
the 140 AETO is very similar to the US market 130 that was dropped from import some years ago.

Thanks for the expert input Rodbolt. I figured that I was getting a little over my head with the Euro market motor. Pbroby should be able to continue with all the info we have supplied.

Rodbolt, would you be able to give me the converted US model code for the AETO if i show you some pictures of the motor? Its hard to find parts for this model but i figure if i can find the similar US model code i will come a long way. Only had this motor a couple of months and havent tested it yet but i like to be ahead if i need to work on it.

Thank you all for the valuable information. It seems sticking with the oil injector will be the better choice and keep up the maintenance of it.

Re: Conversion from oil injector to premix

I have disabled a number of V6 oil injection systems and I have never removed the oil pump or oil pump drive. What are the consequences of not doing so ?. They have gone a lot of hours ( more than 500 hrs after conversion and still going strong ) without touching the oil pump . I basically blocked off the intake hose to the oil pump and flipped over the oil warning sensor so it read full. Should i be worried about it ?? Is there a removable drive in the oil pump or do I have to remove the whole pump and then put a plate over it ??

Thanks

Troy

PS / Please do not take this the wrong way. I definitely respect your opinion on this and I will go and remove the drive without using any more if there is a reason for doing so

Re: Conversion from oil injector to premix

The difficulty with removing the gear pump oiling system is that the pump drive must be removed otherwise the pump, having no oil flow, will seize causing catastrophic failure in the crank case and possibly cylinders.

I would advise against this, on the grounds that there are oil routings that go to crankshaft bearings

Thats the reason to why Im thinking about reactivating my autolube system. Ive just pulled my 225hp powerhead apart and found that the upper and lower crankshaft bearings have direct lubrication from the autolube system.

Diveguana. It appears that you have sufficient oil trapped in the pump to provide lubrication. If this oil escapes the pump will probably lock up and strip the drive gears. This may or may not cause a problem but bits floating around in the crankcase is not my idea of a safe situation.
