1983 omc 260 to mercruiser 260???

I"m looking at a old boat and am wondering if there would need to be any transom work to do on it if I switched out the omc that is on it to a Mercruiser drive and engine? Looks like the omc cut out is bigger.

Ayuh,... Can't see the Tiny picture,...

If it's a Stringer drive,.. Yes, it'll need to be closed in,+ recut...

Cobras use the same cut-out as Mercruiser...

Being an 83, I believe it's a Stringer drive...

I think it is a stinger. I'm not very good with fiberglass so I think I'll pass on it. thanks Bondo

Ayuh,.... It's a Stringer.....

Fiberglass work is actually pretty Easy,...
Especially when you have such a Great Resource as the Restoration forum here at iboats,...
Search up transom replacement,.....;)
