Re: whos happy with jobs, family etc?

I started a new job last December so I've been here just over a year. Best decision I've ever made. Things have only continued to go down hill at my old job. I scored a freelance gig for the company where my wife works and that is going awesome as well. And I'm currently restoring the boat that I've wanted for years. Our 2 year old son is driving us crazy but this too shall pass....

How about retirement...does that count??....:)

Retirement came early to me, but thankfully enough things were in place that the Gov't money and several side jobs help keep everything together. I built a rod and reel shop in my garage and also took on some boat and car projects. I have moved up from an 18' CC a few years ago to a 23' WA as our most recent boat. All from being able to have the time to find the deals that are out there.
We go to community marine flea markets and sales and I have had some pretty good shows. Those kinds of things are big down here.
I have always had car projects (Triumphs, MG's) and now they get a little more attention.

And oh yes, not having to get up super early to make that 1 to 1 1/2 hr drive to get to work for a company that was dying to have us older guys leave...well, I can certainly say I don't miss any of that. Just checking in with some of my Buds who are still there tell me I should be grateful not to work there anymore! Trust me, I am....:)

Other than some recent eye surgery, the health is good. Both my kids are nearby. Everyone seems to get along well and I count my blessings on a regular basis!

Well I woke up so thats always good :D, new pup didn't destroy anything overnight, wife's been busier than ever at work{auto supply/aftermarket} & loving it, and I currently have 2 boats, what more could a guy ask for....well a real job might be nice, but I figure as long as I hold out, that leaves at least one position for someone who may need it more...I tell my wife that I'm doing my part to help the economy ;) :D

Yup, life is great for me!

Been medically retired for 2 1/2 years now. Health is good overall, so at age 56 I have lots and lots of time to enjoy life.

Income is SSDI, but since I'd made a very good living in the past, I'm doing just fine on what I receive. Actually making more than I did at my final job.

New girlfriend is in the process of moving in with me. She likes my boat and actually encouraged me in that pursuit. She's learning to like guns and hunting. She's my "official" huntin' and fishin' photographer. Said it would be "neat" if we got a couple of collectible firearms to see how they do in 10 years. She went fishing with me once, but didn't fish, instead she just enjoyed the sunshine. I'll get her casting and catching this year for sure though.

And the other day she said "maybe we should sell my car and get a pickup." Gotta love her!

Got 1.36 acres on my little homestead. Doing planning now for my summer veggie garden and other landscaping efforts.

Enjoying watching the birdies at the feeder. (Saw a hawk clobber a dove out there yesterday.) I also get to do "pest control" to keep the birdies safe. Sharpens my skills.

Yeahhhh... life is VERY GOOD here! :D

Lifes what you make it, even if you have to hit curve balls all the time.

My Kids, wife and dog and I all love each other.
I live in Michigan, but I am not unemployed or getting forclosed.
My boats are sitting out the winter, anxiously awaiting soft water so we can start chasing fish and tubing again.

Whats not to be happy about?

I just wish all my neighbors had it so good.

Same here...believe it or not:)

All college grads in Michigan now have to leave the state upon graduation for work, so I'm just glad to still be close to friends(those that are still here) and family:D (and employed for a top ten "most job-secure company to work for" full time)

Couldn't be happier/prouder of my two little boys(4 and 1.5):D

Looking forward to an opportunity to gain a promotion that would force me to relocate to Traverse City and get a substantial raise:D:D

Keepin my fingers crossed for that:cool:

Couldn't be happier! Love helping people! Church is going well, new classes started in Ghana and they are going really well.

Fire Company just complete the "official" part of the merger and it went off without a hitch ... just too many fire and accident calls right now, not getting much sleep ... but that is why we volunteer!

Family is doing well. The littlest aspeck is awesome! I have the greatest wife in the whole world. And the oldest 2 are getting their acts together again.

So, yep, pretty much all is well and we have the so much to thank God for ... life, good health, and a sense of humor for when things aren't going as well as we would like! ;):D

Haven't you ever heard the saying "Half the pay for a view of the bay"?

Best wishes, I hope you get the promo. :)

I invoke my Fifth Amendment rights...since my 'bride' occasionally comes here.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for that too because that would means I have a place to stay when I come up there to chase Traverse City Bay smallies. ;)

I thought about how awesome my job is earlier and it couldn't get much better as I was talking to two friendly beautiful nurses. I finished the coversation, walked down the hallway, a pack of four hotties walked by all smiling while saying hi to me. :)

All in all going great :)
Job is great, only slight negative is the amount of travel and business trips that take me around the world.
I have the greatest wife in the world and we have 5 children that are all going in the right direction in life.
Bigger boat would be nice but I don't think we would ever sell our current one.
We love our home and have more income than expenditure.
All in great health (fingers crossed)
We are very thankful for what we have.

Re: whos happy with jobs, family etc?

After a rocky last half year of not knowing... I pursuaded my company to pick up another 3 year contract with a major vendor. Hopefully life should be good with that task off my plate... things are picking up. In my industry I'm seeing contractor hires happening more and more. This is a good sign for all of us from my perspective.
