Questions RE Buildiing Pier When Lake Frozen

Is it possible to build a pier from the shore of a frozen lake ? Benefits, disadvantages ? Pro's, Con's ? How does one go about it without a barge ? How does one pile drive the wood posts ? How does one..... ? Does any one have experience in doing this and/or know neighbors that have done this ? I have a proposal from someone who wants to build me one, but I have questions ! Comments ???

gonna probably needs permits, permits to get permits, some more permits, maybe a couple additional permits and perhaps a permit just to ask about getting a permit

Yes,... Building off the ice is Much easier than from a Barge...
The Ice don't move on you,.. It don't need tying off,+ it's Much more stabil than a barge...
The Only drawback is you have to auger holes where you want to set pilings...

Other than that,... It's the same as workin' off a Barge, only Easier...
This is myself, installing fascia on my docks at Lake Bonaparte,...

Btw,... Every bit of the 15 tons of steel in those docks came across the lake on the Ice...
It's Much easier to drag it, than floatin' it...

I told him to post in General boating,... But anyways...

On the local TV station this morning was a story about the village of Alex Bay finding their 1940s vintage village docks to be on the verge of fallin' into the river,...

If Dadog, or anybodyelse is interested,...

While there's really no work goin' on,... It does illustrate the Ease of building docks from the Ice.....
