While tarping up & winterizing my 18 ? Starcraft CC for the winter I had a problem with the T&T. Upon further inspection I noticed red fluid coming out of one of the trim cylinders around the piston rod when lifting/lowering the motor. I refilled the system to get the motor down. I know at least the o ring will need to be replaced. I have the SELOC book for my motor but the description for removal and replacing the o ring is vague at best. Is this a complicated replacement and best left to a outboard mechanic? The motor has primarily been used in freshwater since I got it with a rebuilt power head in 2000. I don't know if I should mention while the motor is 1984 the mount/bracket is 1985. I had the option of getting T&T or VRO when he was rebuilding the motor & opted for the T&T

easiest thing to do is take the unit to a hydrolic repair show. they have all the tools.

Double posting is not appreciated, only causes confusion.

It's is easiest if you have the end-cap removal tool 0324958 to use with your breaker bar. If the ram is pitted, it will need to be replaced as well.

The seal on the end cap should be replaced.
The scraper on the ram has to be replaced.
Don't use tools on the trim ram.
The trim ram has one o-ring and two nylon back-up rings.

When storing or during prolonged non-use, the rams should be greased and fully withdrawn to avoid pitting; this will greatly extend their useful life.

It's not hard to pull the two caps off and replace the items listed by ezeke. You can purchase a spanner tool at an automotive parts store. Leave the pistons in place. You may want to look at a factory exploded parts list for help in understanding what the parts look like. Check out your model/year on the web at: epc.brp.com. I would also have opted for the TNT.
