Sounds like you have a plug wire issue, pull the mag plate off and check where they go into the coil, sounds like it is only making contact while the mag plate is at a certain position.

With you having replaced virtually everything in there and it still running on one cylinder, you obviously did something wrong or got a defective part. We can guess all day what that something might be. The only way to know is to go back in and see.

BTW, why did it shear the key? Somebody in the past obviously did not install the flywheel correctly. The first time it shears, it causes damage. Every time it shears after that, it causes more damage. Sooner or later you have junk.

The other thing I found (was a lawnmower but same timing/magneto system type) was that the flywheel and the crankshaft have to be in perfect alignment with no slack (flywheel nut tight) and no deformation (partial shearing) of a snug/tight fitting key. However, since the magnet in the flywheel makes 360 and passes 2 ignition coils and one is reacting adequately and the other is not, either your points are misaligned on that cylinder or as stated, you have other problems.

Again one wonders what sheared the pin. A good hard underwater strike at WOT could do it. Otherwise makes you wonder.

I would suspect you got the plug wires messed up or points set wrong or assembled wrong. When you installed the flywheel were the bore and crank taper clean and dry?Did you torque the nut to 100 to 105 ft lbs.?Did you line up the coils to the bosses on the stator plate?

Another member, bashr52, recently posted that he had a bad set of new points right out of the box. I do not remember if they were OEM or aftermarket. It's usually something simple like the ground wire from the points or the overspeed switch wires frayed or connected wrong. Hang in there and you will find it with the help of the experts, which I am not.
