I have a xp150 v-6 1984 I have checked the overheat horn at the control unit by ground the horn using the key method and also have tried to ground the leads comming of the two sensors at the top of both cylinders at the head. And no HORN, by what I have seen this horn is in the control box my question is this, is this hard to replace, I replaced cables on a box a long time ago and I never thouht I would get it all back together, but I did. Or is there a way to just mount another horn possibley under the dash. Any help would be appreciated, I just don't like the idea of running without this horn. Thanks in advance.

My 92 60 hp Johnson has the horn tied into the wire harness about 1' from the control box. It is outside the box. My guess is that the 150 from 1992 was wired the same. You might be able to look at a 92 150 wiring diagram and use that as a guide. These later horns are more sophisticated, as they beep for a few seconds when the key is first turned on-unlike the early horns.

It is not hard to replace the horn if you have the standard side-mounted control box.

It will be up to you to decide which horn to use as the self-testing ones did not come in until around 1989.

The typical wiring with the self testing, three wire horn is shown here: http://www.maxrules.com/graphics/omc_pics/REMCONTBOX.jpg
