that is the big 8 cylinder, not a lot of market for it. especially being 22 years old. people that have that type boat usually repower with new or newer motors.
this is what NADA puts on it. we all know that NADA is almost useless when it comes to boats and motors.

It depends on how good of shape it's in. If it's got great compression, runs good, low hours and the paint is good it could be worth $5000. If it has seen better days but still running good I would say $2000. That's just my opinion if I was going to sell it.
$5000 is pushing it but you got to take into consideration it's not your typical 85 hp motor, a 300 hp motor brand new cost more than most new cars. Maybe it's just the high prices here where I live at, when spring starts coming around here it's hard to find any motor under a grand, a good running 70's motor with controls will run around $1000-1500. That's why I shop in the winter.
You will make more money selling the parts off it as selling it complete, I sold a 275hp block and crank for $1000 and empty gear housing for $400. The lower units are getting hard to find as they are a copy of the OMC sterndrive King Corba and very pricy when found. They are a B***H to sync and link and idle is not very consistent. They make great hot rod projects and I have several friends that drag race them, if built correctly they will turn 11,000rpm all day long on a MSD/Yamaha ignition conversion. Contact Tony Wilson over on the Scream and Fly board for more info if wanted...
I looked at a used one last summer. The guy was asking 1000 for it and it was in pretty good condition.
My boat is rated for 300hp but the thought of keeping all of those carbs in tune and everything in sync i ended up passing on it.
My 175 will push me to near 50 mph....fast enough.
A used motor no matter what it is, is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. At $500 it is a good investment even if you end up parting it out.
Just my 2 cents.
