Cracked Intake on 4.3?

I am in the process of replacing the 4.3 Mercruiser in a 2001 Crownline 180BR. The engine was cracked due to poor winterization. In looking at the inrake manifold, I don't see any obvious leaks. I do see a lot of rust in the non-water ports on the intake. Should I assume that water got in these areas from a crack in the intake?

Never assume unless you enjoy doing thing twice. Have it crack checked.

On the intake manifold of 4.3 engines (1996 and newer with vortec heads), there is a drain plug on the front of the intake that must be pulled to winterize. Assume that since it was not winterized correctly that this plug was not drained either.
