It would appear as if I have two fuel pumps on my 1985 XP150 V6, before I owned it the VRO was removed the gas and oil are premixed. The pumps look the same I can read the part number on one 438559 cant read the other. So any help like, does each play a different part in the motor operation? and are they the same part number.

Thanks
Greg

Re: Fuel pumps

They are usually the same pump or nearly so and both are needed to supply the power that is the equivalent of one VRO,VRO2 or OMS pump.

The two pump system was used until the VRO systems came out in the mid 1980's, so you can see the two pump setup and parts on the catalog for say, 1983 model of your motor: http://shop.evinrude.com/

If you click the magnifying glass next to the part number you will get the superseding part number if any.

To see a more recent configuration, see the Johnson 1998 SJ125RWYN fuel system; it used two identical 0438559 pumps.
