I found a boat, its an 89 Sea ray 200BR, with a 4.3L. its in good shape and has a trailer with new tires. It was listed at 4200, but the guy will take 3500. does this seem like a good deal? I missed out on an 88 18ft for 2500 last week and I do not want to miss out on another. It does come with a convertible top and bimini top.

Well it could be...have you taken it for a ride? That can be the deal or no deal part!

get maintainance records, when was the drive off for service, and gimbal realigned. when were the exhaust manifolds and bellows changed, these are high $$ service items.

Ayuh,... Who's Outdrive,... If it's OMC, I'd pass or offer $1500....

Well you can still run it on muffs and be able to see if there are and strange sounds and be able to see if the drive works. It dosnt take much to winterize it again. If the seller has an issue with that then dont buy.. the last place you want to be is on the site in the spring posting " I bought this boat in the winter for a good price ...took it out for the first time today and the engine has a loud knock"....Good luck

Re: Help with a purchase

He has only owned the boat 2 season and no records before that, the boat looks mint. I would assume the previous owner maintained it well due to the visible condition.

Its a mercruiser

I planned on running it on muffs and rewinterizing.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me then. Check carefully for soft spots.

I would probably offer 3K or less for it if everything checks out.
