1977 Datsun Headlight trouble

Hello to all of you,
My dad keeps tasking me on his new to him 1977 Datsun, 280 zx. Anyway, both his headlights are not working and he cannot figure it out. He has replaced the fusible links, both headlights and still no good. What else can he check? Thanks and it is on a 1977 Datsun, 280zx. Thanks again, Bob

Hey Bubba, can't help you in any way, but have to tell ya that the 70's Datsun 240,260,280 series is my all time favorite car!

No, I am active duty Air Force stationed at Scott AFB, Illinois and my dad has the 280zx in South Carolina where the car is at. He doesn't have a computer so he is asking me to look on-line for the help. Hopefully I can find the answer for him here on IBoats. Take care, Bob

get a volt meter and start checking. See if there is any juice to the lights, then start checking continuity. Check if there is continuity from the lights to the harness, Wires to ground and from one wire to another.

It could be a grounding issue or broken wire, or poor insulation causing two wires to short together. All can be easily checked with a continuity tester. It may also be possible that there is a problem with the switch, but I would check the wires first.

i had a '72 datsun pick-up that did this there is a head lite relay under the hood.
but for the life of me i cant remember where it is
can you call a dealer they mite have the wire diagram

Thank you. I downloaded the service manual for his vehicle and I was able to review electronically and it is pretty nice and had alot of information on doing everything on that vehicle. Thanks again, Bob
