Hey guys, got a 2003 maunual 25 hp bigfoot. I was just wondering what the flywheel degree was suppose to be on this? It goes from 30 to -10 pretty much and don't have an owners manual or anything as I have just bought this motor.
Thanks

Re: 25 hp Bigfoot flywheel

I'm drinking tea this morning instead of my usual pot of coffee, maybe that explains my confusion over your question.

Flywheel degree, usually the degree marks on a flywheel are used setting the ignition timing and have nothing to do with temperature.

Outboard motors are self-draining as soon as the motor is shut off, there should be no worries of freezing the motor.

The gearcase should have the oil changed to be sure there is no water leaked in that could freeze, expand and break the case.

As long as the boat and motor are out of the water and the motor is trimmed level then no rain water can pool in the exhaust passage of the lower unit.

Hope this is what you were asking, if not repost more detailed questions and we can try again.

Well there are tick marks on the flywheel and thought that may be the problem. What's happening is when I pull the rope it's not wanting to catch to start the motor.

Still not real clear, when you pull the rope that it will not 'catch' to start the motor.

Do you mean that the pull-start does not 'catch' the flywheel to turn the motor?

If this is the problem then you may need to remove the starter assy, it may have a loose nut holding the assy together, allowing it to 'slip', or maybe a broken engagement pawl.

You may find a service manual to help you at
