I need to change the seal behind the bearing carrier in the lower unit.How do I pull this out after the nut is removed and is it hard to put back in.Is their anything I should be awhere of when replacing.It looks like I might have to replace the bearing carrier,it looks cracked. Thanks I am a newbie at this.It is a 1971 50hp leaking lower unit oil.

I'm amazed that no one has replied to your problem. I gather it's a MERC 500 engine?
I'll take a look in my repair manual and get back to you

mine is a 71 50 horse and was told it was a 400 series.

Something wrong there, a MERC 500 is 50 HP for that era
