So I had a customer bring by a 57 Johnson AD-11 today. He said the carburetor was boogered up. I said okay, no prob. A rebuild and you should be good to go. Well, I checked the ignition system out and it turns out he had "antique coils" and no spark on number one. I actually had it running and that was when I found the spark issue. This motor smoked so bad, I could hardly see across the yard. LMAO So, he decided to leave it with me and get 'er fixed up. I went to town and got new coils for it and new condensors and got it running again. This time, it was hittin on both cylinders but it still smoked and ran lousy. I figured "okay, I'm going to go into the carb now" Well, I remove the silencer and in order to do that, You have to remove the sleeve for the low speed jet. I also pulled both needles out and discovered that both needles were switched around........yea....that's right. The high speed needle was in the low speed socket and the low speed needle was in the high speed socket. Well damn!! Even when I bottomed out both needles, it still ran. So, I put it back together (without having to go into the carb) and put the needles back in the right sockets and it runs like a champ.

My my my.......what people will bring for you to fix. LOL Sure is a nice looking motor too. Best looking 7.5 I've seen in a long time. The ol' boy was happy to hear I got it running for him already.
