i have an 70 something 9.5 seahorse, i got it running but had to use a barrell of water. do these older motors take a special flushing earmuff? the conventional one i have wont work. the water intake holes arent on a flat spot for the muffs to slide over. thanks ken

The primary water intake is the cylindrical screen just above the propeller.

There is really no efficient means of flushing other than using a bucket of water, and the water needs to be high enough to actually cover the water pump.

The flushing attachment that was once sold did not work well, damaged the paint, and kept the propeller from turning.

Just about all of the parts for all 9.5 motors are available, one way or the other; ask here if you find a problem.
