Valentines Day gift ideas???

OK, tomorrow I have to make the annual Valentines day gift hunt.

Flowers are OK but candies always a no no because she is always dieting. I wind up eating the candy anyway.

A sexy negliche would really be "for me" not her (and no, I'm not going to be the one wearing it) I just mean, it's not really a personal gift for her because she knows I'm really getting it for me :D :) :D

Sure, jewelry is always nice, but she usually returns it for another piece anyway . . . which kinda wastes the time I spent picking something out just for her!

Hmmm, maybe a nice gift certificate to West Marine . . . that ALWAYS shows you really care, right?

Last year, I bought her this really nice "steam iron" so she's all set now in that department . . . jus kidd'in :D

So any ideas or surprises you guys out there may have come up with for your loved ones for the big day this Sunday???

Anyone, Anyone? . . . and thanks for sharing :)

Re: Valentines Day gift ideas???

I don't know how handy you are, and it's a little late to order one off the internet for this year.

But for my current woman on our first VD we were dating about 10 months at the time. I hand carved her a Welsh Love Spoon out of white aspen. Oiled it up with natural linseed oil. All and all it took me about 20 hours to make. The carvings were very delicate, and I broke the first 2 half way through the carving process. The 3rd one worked out.

I put the spoon in a white box, with christmas type pink paper. I printed out the Welsh Lovespoon history on some pink paper and wrote my own little note on it and wrapped it up with some pink ribbon.

The story of the lovespoon, in short, is old Welsh and Dutch tradition in which sailors would spend months at sea. In their off time on the boat they would carve these lovespoons and present them when they return to port to their beloved as a sign of their unforgetting love and commitment when they were away to their woman.

If your on short notice. A gift cert to a day spa every woman loves, massage, etc. Tickets to a show, play or concert. (the NHL usually won't cut it for VD) Tickets for something to do adventorous together. It doesn't have to be far, but book a weekend at a ritzy hotel. Do something together that you've never done. Go Skiing, go snowboarding, take a hot air balloon ride together, ignite the spark and go skydiving. I've taken many a girfriend over the years to an outdoor gunrange for their first time. They always shake at first but love it in the end.

Be Unique.

Silly as it may sound, but I have always found that a dozen long stem red roses does the trick. It's best to send them to her office or place of work. Of course, diamonds will do too. :)

??????????????
with two pole stamps

??

What is that?

For me, I'm screwed.
No matter what I get, it will be wrong.

She has been so miserable lately, as she has been sick and off work for 6 months. She has already told me that she isn't getting me anything, because she doesn't feel up to shopping. If I get her something nice, it will make her feel bad for not getting me anything.

She said no to dinner out, as she won't feel up to it, and her appetite is so diminished she can only eat about 2 ounces of food.

Taking her to the Mayo Clinic next week, hoping for an accurate diagnosis.
And next week is the first anniversary of her mother's death.

This next week is gonna suk.

Sorry to hear you and your wife are going thru such a tough time Roscoe. I hope she feel better soon.

As for the perfect gift guys, red roses are perfect and a really special dinner cooked by you alone always works. You can keep it fairly simple with lobster or steak, a baked potato with all the fixins, a special salad and a nice wine. Don't forget the candle light, and set the table with a table cloth and her fine china (or best dishes and silver.) Good music is a must, turn off the TV.

Love the Welsh Love Spoon out of white aspen! A lot of thought and care went into that gift. Kudo's.

Take it from me, no matter what you do, as long as your hearts in it, you can't fail.;)

Last year I bought her two dozen roses. I put each one individually into a beer bottle (Moosehead....no beer, clean water) and put them all over the house. You'd be surprised how long it takes for someone to find 24 beer/roses around the house. :D

My wife works with suits all day so she gets a kick out of low brow humour.

I try to arrange some kind of experience rather than buy another gift, and make an evening of it. So a few weeks beforehand I'm looking around for options, this year we are going to a play then probably coffee or a cocktail afterwards.

Well, lotsa nice suggestions posted so far. Some quite unique. I'll start with the dozen roses since thats kinda the basic thing to do.

I like the idea of a play or maybe a bed and breakfast gift certificate for use in the Spring when the rates for the places near the ski areas drop down.

We are only an hours drive from Manachester VT and that area is always nice for an overnight come Spring time.

Their downtown area if filled with factory outlets which is another plus for shopping around.

roscoe, sorry she is feeling down. your's should be the easiest, just a quiet evening with you there. maybe a movie and a bottle of wine. seems when someone is feeling down the thing they need the most is companionship.

best of luck to you and her.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. What she wants most is to feel better, or at least a doctor that can diagnose her illness.

I will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers that you will soon find an answer so that she can get on the road back to good health.

Go to super market, buy cheap flowers, no more then 7.95 for a bunch, give her a big smooch, tell her that you love her, pat on butt and of course say, "Happy Valentines."

What does the man get?

Uh, need you ask?

Maybe a hard working gal who probably cooks 365 a year, does your laundry, keeps a clean house, plans meals, gets the groceries, rubs your feet when you get home after a long days work (okay, maybe thats stretching it for some LOL), takes care of the kids, the school, the homework, the dishes and still has time to see that you are content.

A dozen roses for 7.95, a big smooch, and I love you and pat on the butt for what you get is really quite inexpensive. ;):p HA

Same thing here with my wife. I buy her something and most of the time it gets returned for what she really wanted. Now, I buy her a gift certificate and let her select what she wants.

Soooo you think you are off the hook just buying her the gift certificate, 10 minutes in-out of the store and your done... WRONG! You have to go back to the store with her, and help her select the right item. Yes honey that looks wonderful  Bonus points are scored if you actively help her select things...

Hey Roscoe, would the Mrs. be up for a message, by YOU, to make her feel better? Pamper her, I am sure she will appreciate it.

As for the others on here, what are you all thinking? Didn't you get that someone special in your life that special gift of a gift certificate to iboats? C'mon, man, it could be soo easy, if you just stop and think about it! Bruno should have been on here shouting about Valentine's Day gift certificates for that someone special! Nothing but the best for that special lady in your life!

Oh, wait, Valentine's Day is not for you to show your affection towards your boat?!?!? Ummm, never mind.
