I think your missing most of the benefits of fuel injection. You may have forgotten your carburated cars of the past. Its been what, 20...25 years since they abandoned them in cars?

You'll remember why they ditched the carb on those cold morning starts. The difficult hot re-starts. The run-on/deiseling at shut off. The gummed up jets after not running the boat for a few months. The hesitations or flat spots in power curve.

Not saying the carb'd 4.3 is a bad package....Its just ancient, unrefined and so often, a pain in the *****.

My sons 2007 dirtbike is sitting in the garage now with the carb out of it as I clean out gummed jets. I hate carbs!!!

I keep hearing that I should have went with the MPI, but after talking with some people about the cost benefits I am still glad I chose the Carburetor motor. First of all I have nothing against fuel injection, and in fact think it is a great accomplishment to be in boats now. They give improved fuel economy and better horsepower in the long run.

I did not purchase this boat to be a high performance boat, at least not for right now. I wanted a motor which had the power to pull riders out of the water with no problems, and didn't want a v8 engine. Maybe down the road when I get bit by the modding urge. I wanted a boat which has the power and torque curve down in lower RPMs which the carbureted engine has over the MPI engine. The MPI engine will have a better top end and faster speed no doubt.

I know it's probably a done deal and I don't want to just be negative....but if I was dropping that kind of coin on a brand new boat....it would darn sure have MPI. Nice looking boat though. Good job doging that Rienell. Crazy how everything you read turned out to be true on the show boat!

congrats on the new boat. just keep fresh gas with a bit of stablizer in there and your carb should work fine for years. for 1500 bucks, i can pump the gas a few times on cold start.

Congrat's on the new boat. I'm guessing you have the TKS (Turn Key Start) carb. If so, you'll love it.

It's essentially self priming. Other than first outing of the year, you shouldn't need to touch the throttle when starting. Mine fired right up on the first crank every time last year. I was pleasantly surprised.

Keep her well maintained and tuned and she'll treat you right.

Enjoy!
