I belong to another boating forum lets just say made out of wood. This forum is based in the North East coast so you can imagine which side of the isle they sit. What is most amazing is it seems there are more political posts then boating post and boy it is apparent the left side is angry.
I prefer this forum because it stays with the boat subject and not get political. Plus the forum layout is better. Keep it up guys.

Re: Political Forums

Ever read the comments to news stories on the Dallas Morning News website?
99% of all of the comments end up turning into some sort of political bash session. It doesn't matter what the story is about; the comments inevitably end up being political. Story on Trash--political bashing. Story on a dog----political bashing. Silly how the powers that be divide us and we fall for it every time. Makes us personally identify with some "special club", demonizes the "others", and grab our votes and our money. Works every time. ;)

I like this forum; we skate around the edges sometime, but as long as it doesn't get hateful and personal it is interesting.

Re: Political Forums

I have to agree...its nice to not have to deal with elements of that 'carp'.
So many of the 'hunters' (aka 'failed politicians) associated with this attack stuff are just waiting to weigh in on the subject and flavour of the moment with a lot of aggressive bs. I always find it interesting that they never post their own ideas in full detail.....fearing of course, exactly what they live to do to others.;)
Here is to keeping it civil;):)

Re: Political Forums

Iboats used to have a ton of political discussions and I am glad they put an end to that. This is a much friendlier site without it.

Re: Political Forums

I have to agree that the site is a nice getaway from all of the daily political BS. Mind you, I'm the guy with my nose stuck in the news and political crap most of the day. The problem for me is that I get angry at what goes on. I guess most people do too. And, it's hard to get away from your own emotions. That, is why this site is nice, it forces me to put the nonsense aside for just awhile and have some fun. :) It's kinda like yoga for the brain.

What the heck is that supposed to mean? I am from the "North East" and no matter what you meant I take exception to your comment.

I have to take exception to your being offended by whatever the other poster might have meant, whats the subject anyway?:p

I read surftalk for local fishing reports, they're very politically savvy but they don't know squat about boats or engines.

Mark,
I have to agree with you. There are way too many assumptions about people or the part of the country in which they live. If you look at elections with close margins, it shows that about half the people did not agree with the decisions of the other half.

There is no particular race, creed, color, or political party that can say that they own the market on stupidity! It seems to get passed around pretty freely to everyone.

I thought it was boating and fishing. Not bashing.

If he doesn't like Wooden Boat whatever, fine, but don't run everyone aground on the same sandbar. I can't say I've always agreed with Peter Spectacle, but I can say sometimes I have; whatever. So?

I am a Patriotic New Englander born in NH, love Maine, and lived 20 years in Vermont, enjoy New York. Whatever he meant, that was a rude comment no matter what my political bent.

I am surprised this thread hasn't been moderated out. That is why iBoats is so refreshing; it would be closed if I was a moderator. Maybe it will be now that I took the bait and opened up the can or worms.
