Yamaha/ Mariner tell tale problem?

Greets everyone, I'm new here and could sure use some advice.
I just acquired a used 1983 Mariner/ Yamaha model 5C (5 hp) outboard. I replaced the water pump assembly (complete) with all new parts. I then proceeded to crank her up in a trashcan full of water, and I noticed I was only getting a slight spray of water and not a full blown stream out of the pee hole (located on the rear housing just under the powerhead). The water was tepid, but not hot (about 70-80 degrees).
I ran the motor for about 15 minutes, and the powerhead ran warm, I guess around 90-95 degrees. Never attempted to shut off like it was overheating or anything. Cranked right back up.
Is this normal for this motor, or should I see more water coming out the pee hole? I'm just getting a drizzle/ fine spray.
Also, what should I look for or attempt to do if it's not normal?
I know I did the water pump correctly...I've done a few before on other motors. Also, the foot was submerged well below the level of the water pump, so I know that part was OK.
Does this motor typically pee hard, or just drizzle???
Thanks for your help or advice.

Does the stream increase with rpms? Is the pee hole possibly blocked? If the motor was used in salt water and never flushed the water jackets could be caked with salt.

Thanks capt sam for your reply.
I tried running a cable tie up the pee hole and it was caked with mud. Played with it awhile and then cranked up the motor. It now pees like a stallion at idle in neutral. If I pee'd that hard it would prolly hurt!
Good solid stream at all times. Very happy it was such an easy fix. My water pump record now is 5-0, and I'm well on the way to the Super Bowl.
