Not happy about the red flag delays, but that did let the track cool down and the handling came back to the cars.

If your sitting the whole time in front of your tv well....... yes it's
going to be boring. During the "pothole" delay's I was down in my
shop splitting firewood with the stereo cranked.

But when the race went green holy smokes, I think it was just about
the best Nascar we have seen in years. (new rules this year)

We're you watching the same race I was?

Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be fun to have a 500 in four 125-mile quarters. :)

You must be a Nopar fan?....lol ;)

Actually, a Jeff Burton fan. You would think a Toyota should have won since their accelerators stick wide open and they have no brakes...

YUP! I was dry walling my upstairs bed room wall. Got 1/2 of the 1st coat on during the red flag.

maybe they had Honda's sloppy steering so they couldn't quite smooth out the turns. LOL

Of course WOT isn't the same as fast; Mark Martin for example.

Speaking of Mark Martin- cautions and red flags didn't do him any favors. If it wasn't for the holes in the track he would have finished a lot better if you look at his progress in the last 50 laps. The last G/W/C shuffled him out of the top ten contention. Then again, with the two 30-lap heats before the two 3-lap heats at the end, the long runs that Martin uses never really developed.

And yes I am a Mark Martin fan- for the same reasons I enjoy(ed) Alan Kulwicki, Richard Petty, Morgan Shephard, Keven Lepage, Derick Cope, Robby Gordon, and JD McDuffie

Re: Greatest Daytona 500 Ever???

great race , Nascar is getting close to real racing . Nascar had to repair the pothole, I have been on many superspeedways in a Dash car and an Arca car , No way you can just drive around something like that and hitting it when it finally opened up was a sure wreck.

Typical restrictor plate racing. Positions can change dramatically even in the last lap. Jr came out of nowhere and almost won the thing. That's why it's impossible to pick a pre-race winner at Daytona and Talladega... Unless, you take a lucky guess.....

Re: Greatest Daytona 500 Ever???

Had a 6pm appointment ... so I was done at the red flag! I was certainly wishing they would put an orange cone in front of the hole and let them race!:p Or maybe one of the highway "Arrow trucks" could have been parked in front of the hole!

Missed all the fun at the end. So to me, it was a pretty crumby race ... cuz I didn't get to see the last 70-plus laps.
