Re: here we go again!

The problem has to be the primer bulb, or something between the primer bulb and the fuel in the tank. Check: tank vent; pickup screen; anti-siphon valve; fuel line size; and, fuel filter if it is mounted between the tank and the primer bulb.

If fuel mix is old and has gel, it will clog the filter. Tanks made of fiberglass will degrade with ethanol and clog the filter. Old, non-alcohol resistant fuel line will degrade with ethanol and clog the filter.

The anti-siphon valve may be sticking; if you have all of your lines higher than the tank, you can remove it.

my tank is aluminium and i cant remove the pickup screen, when i drained tank there was crap on the bottom,i did my best to remove debri.but when i put gas back in i seen lil things still floatin,i couldnt remove everything.i put new hoses for vent and the gas is still good.my pick up screen is welded into the tank.i think im gonna try and use a red gas tank till i get it fixed.but im lost, and confused:confused:

Did you check the anti-siphon valve?

anti siphon is that the connection that goes right into gas line that runs through filter and into moto.i can start motor and run fine ,when i get into water and open it up a lil i run into probs.also i checked check valve when emptied tank and it works,i think the prob might be screen on bottom of tank

Re: here we go again!

What you are describing sounds like the tank vent isn't allowing air into the tank.. Sometanks have a thumb screw on the cap; try opening it to allow air in... the tank has to be vented or it will collapse the primer bulb

Re: here we go again!

Try blowing air though the vent tube to see if you hear airbubbles in tank. And try see what happens then

on top of my tank i only have two hoses that come out,one feeds the gas to the motor, and the other i thought was an over flow, when this happened to me before,i tried opening gas top to see if that was prob.and it didnt work.

I think if the bulb worked good to charge up the fuel system, then there isn't any need to replace it. I think the problem is before the bulb.

i agree, when my boat starts to act up,when primer bulb is sucked all the way in,i can hear it trying to suck.i hear noises going on inside my aluminum tank.

Yep, I'm willing to bet it's in the pick up tube, inside the tank and/or venting system.

The anti-siphon valve is at the top of the gas tank on built-in tanks. It's a spring loaded steel ball in most instances, inside the metal fitting. It's a USCG requirement wiith some exceptions, but always there on newly manufactured boats.

Obviously the tank is unusual if it has the pickup tube welded into the tank. I've never seen that.

yes it is spring loaded,i checked my cousin is in hydraulics and told it is good no reason to replace,i tried to remove the screen tube but the threades where the siphon valve is it gets caught in betwee,so icant remove.think it might be in my best interest to just go with the red gas tank.but to know that its a minor fixe is gonna drive me nuts, because i cant remove tank from boat, the tanks is built into the monark:confused::mad:

got home from work and had to work on the tank.i took off the check valve and managed to get the lil screen out,it was covered with brown gunk,i scraped the inner tube and was pullin alil more gunk.so tomorrow im gonna go buy new screen is there something i can put into tank that can break it up.or is the fuel water separator a filter also or should i buy one and install before the separater.
