I'm in NY and that boat is worth about $8-9k here (upstate). Why would you even consider such a purchase remotely? I'd never do something like that... especially for an older boat that is quite common, and definitley not for that price.

I would NEVER buy any expensive item without seeing with my own eyes. Other people and pictures cannot confirm YOUR satisfaction. If you're serious go see it yourself!

Here's my experience:
I bought my Silverton long-distance, 600 miles from home. I invested the time and expense to see it myself before seriously considering the purchase.
I arranged to meet my surveyor (selected by ME) while I was there and the wet survey was performed while I was present. We arranged for the dry survey the next week, scheduling it to be hauled at a local marina.
My guy e-mailed me a condensed survey within 24 hours, so I prepared a purchase offer conditional upon a 'satisfactory' survey. I received the full survey report (50+ pages) the next week.
His fiinding indicated a few deficiencies, so the seller and I negotiated them into the deal by e-mail, which I followed up with a revised purchase offer. Once we had agreed on price and terms, I got the $$$ and flew back to where the boat was, where we closed the deal. I had a documentation company handle the transfer because I immediately brought the boat home by water.
Things went smoothly because there were no surprises.

16 almost 17 years old. 60 hours means nothing. all rubber components of the engine and drive are going to need replacing. hoses, bellows, etc. controls and steering probably frozen. i would not do it. i would be there when the surveyor, and mechanic look at it. then take the report and make an offer, using some knowledge, you gain from the others. 14,999 us 15,000. way over priced for a 17 year old boat.

Th pictures do seem to show that the boat is in oustanding condition and very well could be at 60hrs since the outdrive doesn't even have any paint missing. I wouldn't pay more than 9-10K at the highest though, just because it's still a 17 year old boat.

Hate to be this way but I'd be suspicious of a long-distance transaction--it's the favorite mode for ebay/craigslist scams.

The ONLY way to do it, other than you going to see it (what's a round trip cost?) is to hire a local boat mechanic to inspect it for you; meanwhile you go look at an identical model boat to see what you are getting.
60 hours in 17 years? not likely--and not good for engines either. That's being used 1 afternoon per year.
