Congrats to all in Northern North America . Great game enjoy the spoiles of victory ! 14 total Gold medals for Canada I think your "own the podium" program was a success . After all it is about winning and loosing. Great games and I am so glad to see no country bashing going on here ! It just shows how great two countries can be if they choose to , Now if the rest of the world would just listen :)

Re: Olympic Hockey Wager

Okay, this was killing me all day. Mrs. M was dutifully studying and would kill me if I watched the game without her. So I recorded it and went out to the shop to play welder games. BZZZZZBZZZZZ grind grind, waiting to watch the game. Made a cool folding trailer hitch though.

I dared not visit I-Boats forum, lest I find out the outcome before watching it, tends to be a buzzkill for me. I dared not turn on the TV either, surely there would have been a plot spoiler there as well.

Then came along dinnertime, Mom and Dad come over for a surprise visit. I say -What of the game? Lets watch it while eating...So off to the den with some great spaghetti and a cold one. Keep in mind that this was at 7:30 CST....:(

Dad does not get hockey at all, and was asking questions the whole first period. Driving me nuts. They left about 15 min into period two, I could finally watch it in earnest without the blabber going on, or having to rewind to explain to Dad this or that foul. Mrs. M was getting irked more than I was:D

What a great game though!

I , too , thought they ( the crowd) were booing but then figured it out as the game played on. Doh!

Then the ending- WOW .Great game .Congrats to Canada, I am off to find that flag....and watch the closing ceremony.

You missed the part where I got to play in the shop all day ! With nobody bothering me! And got to do some welding! For FUN!:D
It was kinda killing me not to watch the broadcast when it was supposed to be aired...
Thanks though!

Great game Canada. My avatar should be up, my end of the deal. I am a hard core Penguins and was beaten by my own Crosby. Congrats to our neighbors to the north!

Ahh, true, very difficult. But then when I get into a situation like that, I remember a plaque on Grandmas wall:

Agreed there are players from around the world on US teams...being paid by ticket sales in the US...so we do support them and they give us great teams in return. It's a win win situation and we thank you for it. End of this discussion......again congrats Team Canada

1st-Congrats Canada! Great game!

2nd-Hockey really is an international sport, I'm a Milwaukee Admirals fan, minor league team for the NHL Nashville Predators, and there were at least 5 former or current Admirals players in the Olympics.
Shea Weber-Canada
Ryan Suter-USA
Alexander Sulzer-Germany
Alexander Radulov-Russia
Patric Hornqvist-Swedan
Not bad representation for a minor league team.

For the Gold Medal game I had a Ryan Suter booblehead on one side of the TV and a Shea Weber booblehead on the other.

Sorry for being late, but great game!!!!! As agreed I found a new photo for my avatar!

Was any one else holding their breath for the last min and a half of reg time! Tied up with 24sec left wow!!!!!

I think that both teams played great, they where equals at the end though, each beat each other once just Canadas win was on the right night!!!!!

This Olympics was filled with some of the best Hockey I have seen in a long time!

I have to say though I was happy to see the Russians to come up empty handed, IMO the deserved it for they way they acted when the lost events they thought they should win! They need to learn what the Olympics is about!!

The reason it was so good, IMHO, is that if you listened to the broadcast, they kept referring to 'North American' style hockey. This was a great example of that and both teams should be proud. Of course, being Canadian I'm a little happier with the outcome than some.

More importantly, that game had a lot of exciting young talent that will make World Championship and Olympic hockey exciting to watch for many more years to come.

Have to agree with that. If you like hockey then the USA and Canada combined are absolutely amazing. Speed, skill, heads up play, great goaltending and an absolute passion for the game.
Both countries should be proud.
