Hey Folks,

First off just want to say ?Thank You? for all that I have read here.

My boat buddy picked up a Stratus 5 Sirius Sat Radio Car Kit cheap. We have no other radio or speakers on the boat. A marine grade cigarette lighter 2-wire socket sounds easy enough to hook-up for power. My only problem is audio. On the docking unit is a 1/8? socket, at least that?s what the manual says. I assume that this would work with a 3.5mm male stereo connector since that is all that is sold.

How would I then hook-up a regular boat speaker? We only intend to install one speaker. Could we get a 3.5mm stereo cable and just cut one end and splice that to the speaker? Would this work?

Thanks in advance,
Woody

That output is a low power output that is designed to be hooked into another stereo. It will not put out enough signal power to drive a speaker except maybe low volume on a set of headphones.

Exactly, this is designed to be connected to a head unit.
