270 vs 280

I have a 17.5 foot with a V-8 I have the choise to use a VolvoPenta 270 or 280. Would really appreciate your opinion.

Insides are the same, the 280's have a more streamlined lower unit. That's all that changed.

I would use the 280 w/ a V8, it has larger exhaust passages. 'nutcase

Does this up the horsepower or performance? If so how much.
