Got a new Canon printer, what a deal!

Googled lots of inkjet printers and their reviews - I ended up getting a Canon PIXMA iP2600 w/ Cable for $29 from Walmart online!!!! Total was $40 with tax and shipping. Its color & B/W got good reviews on ink usage etc. A decent light duty, home printer. And the ink refills wont cost an arm and a leg - thats where they get you. Geez my old Canon I250 lasted 7-8 yrs and cost I think $50, and refills were cheap. Sure feels nice getting a good deal! (Hope it lasts, )

I swore off inkjets completely about 5 years ago. If you don't print that often they gum up and die. I gave up after trashing (over the years) an HP, an Epson, and then finally a really nice HP. That being said, if I was to buy another one it would definitely be a Canon. Great quality stuff from them. I have a multi-function laser printer from them that I LOVE.

Printers are cheap now a days, I got a free one with my MacBook Pro in October, little LCD to show pics right off multiple card slots, clean crisp printing ect.....they do this because they make the real money off the ink.

I purchased ink for my Lexmark from "inksmile" on ebay. Great prices and the cartridges work well too.

Instead of over $70 for both lexmark, I got their remanufactured for under $20 shipped for BOTH.

We have been re-filling our own for the last 4 or 5 years. They eventually dry up but saves a small fortune.

That is correct, THEY sell refilled ink cartridges. ( meaning you don't have to fill them )

Most times the printer is a loss leader to get you "hooked" on the ink. For awhile, my Goodwill was filled with brand new HP printers. People bought them because with rebate they ended up costing a couple of bucks and they came with a cartridge that would have cost $30.

I bought a laser printer and never looked back.

My multi-function (printer, scanner, fax) was under $200. The toner is expensive but lasts a ridiculously long time. Definitely cheaper than an inkjet by a mile if you look at per-page costs. Mine is B&W though. Not sure how the color lasers are. I have no interest in getting involved with that many tanks of ink.

Cheap HP monochrome is about $100
Replacement cartridge is $39 and prints about 2000 sheets
I have a inkjet for printing pictures, and use the laser for everything else.
