I have a busted hydralic line (been like that since I bought the boat) behind the stern on the outside of the boat. (The one that goes to the cylinders) Its a little over a foot long, and easily replaced (except for the hard part =o)! ) Its obvious that Im gonna have to remove 6 bolts and remove the upper unit, but something is telling me that I still wont be able to get a wrench on it.

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to replace this guy, or am I really gonna have to remove the upper unit and possibly the frame to get to it

Ayuh,... I thought the same thing, til I noticed Cobra in the signature...

I still can't help though,... I don't do OMCs...

That line attaches right above where the U-joint bellows attaches to the transom. You are going to have to remove the pivot housing to get at it.

You will have to remove the drive, and the pivot housing the outdrive bolts to. Take the bellows off and you should be able to get to the lines ok. At that point, it depends on how corroded things are. Be sure to use a flare wrench so you don't damage the not on the line, or you will really have a mess on your hands.
Since you have to take the bellows off, if it's 5 years old or of unknown age, replace it while you are there.

a quick tip on line removal at the stern manifold, use a chiesel and shear off the trim line flush with the fitting and use a ground for clearence box wrench on the hex fitting..
always use new orings on reassembly.
I use OMC gel seal or the locktite equivalent on the threads ONLY as an aide to prevent vibration from loosening them and to aide if future removal.
some of these drives in commercial use eat 1 set per year, sometimes more.
