I have an impeller I bought in the fall, but the more I think about it, the more I think I will get a kit since it's been a few years as best I can tell that it's been done on my Alpha 1, gen 1.

Which is the preferred kit, the Mallory, or the Sierra? I am looking at buying them from our host, and they are only a few bucks different.

I wouldn't use any rubber product put out by Mallory. Been there, done that.

Thanks Don. So is the Sierra OK quality wise? Or OEM only for this part. I've never changed one and don't want to use inferior components.

I personally use OEM only, If that was not available, I would use Sierra.

Thanks again. And now, please pardon my confusion, but I have closed cooling. Is it recommended to do the raw water impeller at the same time?

Do you have an engine driven pump also?

Then you must have a thru hull water pickup, correct?

That engine pump is the one you should be working on, not the one in the drive. The one in the drive shouldn't even be hooked up to the engine.
About the only thing the one in the outdrive is now doing is "POSSIBLY" a very small amount of cooling on the upper gear box of the drive.

So there's no reason to even change the one in the drive, having an engine driven pump?

This is a factory closed cooling setup, so would there be nothing where the water pump would normally be. I get confused with this stuff sometimes.
