So, back in January, I picked up a 1958 Johnson JW-14 for $50.00 on Craigslist. I bought it as a non running motor. I took it home and spent $100.00 on parts to get it running real nice. New coils, carb kit, spark plug leads and impeller. Not bad investment to make it run good. At the first part on this month, I took it down to the coast and traded it off for a 1983 Johnson 7.5hp, straight across. All I had to do with the 7.5 was change the oil in the lower unit, replace the pull rope and two little rollers in the tiller handle assembly. I think I spent a whopping $25.00 to make this motor right. Today, I traded that Johnson 7.5hp straight across for a 1962 Evinrude fisherman 5.5, a newer Sea King (Chrysler) 7.5hp, in awesome condition and a 12' Aluminum Trailor Boat with a trailor. The little boat is in pretty nice condition too and is ready to hit the water.
The 5.5hp just needs an impeller and a thermostat, plus it needs a gasket for the sediment bowl. I checked the ignition system out and found two brand new coils under the flywheel. WhooHoo!!

Who would have thought that one could end up with two motors and a boat, all because of a little JW-14? Just too funny.
