I just got 2 xeon headlights off ebay for .01 plus 5.99 shipping. That is a great buy!!! They are all over the place like that. These are brighter than the originals and my old explorer needs one new light bulb anyway, so I bid .10 max and was the only bidder. Sometimes you just get lucky. I priced them out at wally world and they were 25.00 each for the same brand.

Re: Great score on EBAY

I really don't mean to stir up trouble with this, but I have to say that I'm annoyed by the mis-adjusted blue flame-throwers mounted on the fronts of the cars I see out on country roads in my area, and especially by SUVs that have these things installed, where the higher placement of the headlamps means that you're bound to put all kinds of glare in the rear-view mirrors of anyone unlucky enough to be in front of you. They may be great for you as a driver, but they're a pain in the retina for anyone who happens to share a road with you.

Perhaps if they were manufactured better, they wouldn't have this problem. However, I think the cheaper they are, the more likely they are to blast out light indiscriminately and blind oncoming drivers.

Looking at the last post, I seriously doubt that the 85/100 bulbs are street-legal in New York.

Sorry but these that I bought do not do this unless you are on highbeam. Had my wife get in front and then oncoming to be sure as we live in the county and have had some really bright headlights aimed at us in the past. these give great visibility and are focused. here might be a link to see the prices. they seem to be 6.50 now including shipping.

I hope this does not violate any rules for posting a link to a light bulb. :D

One thing that most people don't realize is that you just can't drop in a high wattage bulb in place of the factory ones without modifying the wiring. A 100W bulb draws virtually twice the current of a factory 55W bulb. The factory wiring was never intended to handle the additional current and could result in a potential fire.

Reputable parts suppliers offer replacement wiring harnesses/relays for the higher wattage bulbs.

I posted a question regarding these bulbs on a car site I frequent. The feedback I got on these bulbs was not good.

Well I guess you CAN get something for nothing then ;)

Imagine, 100w of output with only 55w input. Revolutionary :D, and I don't believe it for an instant.

Look around at all the bulbs that put out more light with less watt draws !!!,
Are you that naive ??
That you don't have energy saving bulbs in your house ??. That gives more light at 22 watts rather then at 60 watts
Same thing goes for car bulbs too !!. :)

I have a feeling that these bulbs are not fluorescent like your energy savers you have in the house that use mercury to light the lamp...Its like compairing apples to oranges. I dont see how there will not be any added current draw for these bright lights. Simple ohms law.

You also have to be careful with the hotter bulbs as they can burn the headlight lenses as well. Been there done that. Cost me 600 for new lights.

I hate those stupid energy saving bulbs. I took them all out of our house. I put in regular incandescent bulbs and plan on stocking up on them in case for some reason the govt outlaws them. Thats all i can say about that part of it. I also think that those blue lights you see on some cars headlights is blinding. I am not sure if these are the same bulbs you guys are talking about but it is really hard to see when a car passes you and they have those Xenon bulbs. I think in some states they are illegal. Im not positive about that, I just remember a year or so ago on the news that there was a acura car dealer that was forced to replace all their Xenon headlamps.

I run the Silver Star bulbs in my truck.More of a white light than the yellow stock bulbs. No over heat problems.
Much better at night.
Some people around here run those bright blue bulbs (really blue) and the Cops are starting to crack down on them.
I can't stand meeting a set of those blinding blue lights on a rural road at night. They usually run those and bright fogs in clear weather..
I guess they think its cool..
