My certified suzuki mechanic tells me my 2002 DF115 suzuki 4 stroke has bad damage from an "engine holder" going bad. I researched this issue and have found several others with the same exact problem. It doesnt sound like suzuki is owning up to the problem. The mech tells me he is seeing this pretty frequently lately with suzukis having a couple of years on them now. Anyone else heard of this or have this issue also?

Sounds like the same thing I had last year with the 2001 140 I had. The holder cracked and leaked exhaust into the engine causing all kinds of issues. Good luck with dealing with Suzuki, they wouldnt even talk to me about it. Do yourself a favor and go get an ETEC like I did. Love it.

I think there was a service bulletin or Suzuki service letter about this. I do not have time to dig thru the manuals or letters, but dealer should have this info.

Re: suzuki engine holder defective problem

So I call Suzuki to ask them about what they are doing about the problems with their engines - their response is that the engine is out of warranty and corrosion is not their problem. They are really trying to deny that they have sold defective engines as I am seeing others are starting to come forward now with these problems. If you know anyone with these issue have them call the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Affairs and log a complaint against Suzuki.

Is this something that can be replaced prior to this problem occurring to prevent it? I have the same engine.

I see this is still a common issue with the Suzuki's. What a shame and what a disgrace of a company.
