Thermostat Install Direction

Can anyone tell me the direction to install this thermostat. The old thermostat (P/N: 433395) is obsolete and was replaced with this one. The 2 are very different. Evinrude web site shows the obsolete thermostat only. Thanks

It must go in small end first surely. Would it even fit the other way round?

Cofe, that's the drawing I pulled up but it shows the obsolete thermostat. The new thermostat is a different design (see attached image).

Just thinking,,, but the water in the head has to reach operational temperature, then the thermostat opens and lets the circulated water thru the head. The part of the thermostat that has the spring in it must be on the head side, so the spring will heat up with the head temperature..... make sense?

Looper 90HP-115HP 1995 and up, and 150HP-175HP 1991 and up now use it, but it shows in 1995 150 and others.
