Fleetwin model question

I have just aquired a Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5 hp outboard. I have searched all over the motor and can not find a data plate with the model number listed. How do I tell what model of motor I have?

If there's no plate on the transom clamp, look on the engine block for a welch plug - should have the info there.

I drug the motor out into the sunlight. It looks like the previous owner painted over the data plate. Is the first four numbers of the serial number the model?
