Hi guys,
We've noticed as of late that our '82 Johnson 70HP outboard "bogs" sometimes when we hit a large bump out at sea. It's almost like the engine speed goes down for about...30seconds to 1.5 minutes and then suddenly comes back to life...During the time of the bog, moving the engine faster does nothing, it keeps the same speed.
Thought maybe it was a fuel issue, but checked the filter screen and diagphram and everything looks clean. As far as I can tell we don't have any leaks in our fuel lines...if I squeeze the bulb once it's hard I do hear some gas oozing out where the fuel line connects to the engine, but that's it.
I was guessing that maybe when we slam we break the fuel line vacuum and not enough gas gets fed to the engine??
