Re: gsa tank

I have no idea what size your fuel tank is, Anibal. Sorry. :(

I assume, below, that your engine is a 2 stroke less than 40 years old.

Your outboard wants a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, but it is possible that the outboard does its own mixing. You need to know if your outboard has automatic oil injection connected. If so, you just put oil in the oil tank and gas in the gas tank.

If the oil injection on your 2 stroke outboard is disabled you will need to add 1 quart of TC-W3 certified outboard oil for each 10 gallons to your fuel tank. That will give you a 40:1 mix, slightly richer than needed but easy to remember and convenient.

If your engine is a 4 stroke you only put oil in the engine crankcase. No mix is required.

Re: gas tank

What JB said. If it is a 2-stroke without oil injection, your best bet is to mix the gas/oil in a 5 gallon can and then pour it into the tank until you get a good handle on the tank's capacity. That way, if you have too much gas for the tank, it is still the proper mixture. If you rely on tank capacity and (gulp) the gas gauge, you risk getting the mixture wrong because you want to add the oil first to ensure proper mixing.

2.6 ounces of oil for every gallon

or

16 ounces for every 6 gallons

Re: gas tank

There is a much easier way to do this. At the station, add five gallons of fuel and then pour in 13 ounces of oil. Add another 5 and another 13. Or, if you are unsure of how much the tank will hold use the 16 ounces/6 gallon ratio. Put in 3 gallons of fuel and 8 ounces of oil. Another 3 and add 8 ounces. Simple math. If you over do it a little the engine won't care. Put in too little and the engine WILL care but that also depends on how much too little you screwed up by.

Re: gas tank

Wal-Mart and other places sell a clear plastic bottle that has all the oil to gas ratios printed on it. Takes all the guess work out of it, just fill the bottle to match the amount of gas you put into the tank then add it to your tank. I like to rinse the bottle with just a splash of gas and pore it into my tank. This helps also to get the oil down the fill tube and into the tank. By the time you drive to the ramp the gas is mixed.

Re: gas tank

there should be an access hatch in your floor over the tank to get to the gas line and sending unit. there should also be a plate on the tank near that with your capacity.

I'm used to 6 gallon tanks from small boats, so with internal tanks that require mixing, I go 1 pint oil then 6 gallons gas repeat. It's not like a souffle' recipe. Also don't forget the Startron and ring-free.
