All i need to know is how long is the 1988 85hp force motor lenth and if the johnson motor will fit on the back of the bayliner boat i just got. If anyone can help with this i would be great.

Re: 1988 85hp force motor Question.

While Force made engines in 20 and 25 inch length and they were on various bayliners, I doubt that the 16 foot Bayliner had a 25 inch transom.

Simplest thing in the world: measure the transom from the engine mount to the apex of the deep Vee. Because of the angle of the transom, it will be slightly more than 20 or 25 say 21 or 26 inches. So if it is 21 inches, the rude will fit. Shame to put a crappy engine on a good boat! LOL

Seriously though, I think you will be surprised at the difference in performance the Rude will give--probably at least 2-5 MPH more, IF correctly propped.

Re: 1988 85hp force motor Question.

thanks alot frank yes i measured every thing and it should fit just fine the only thing is on my bottom bolts bracket are about 1/4 -1/2 inch wider on my johnsons than on my force no big deal at all. Other than that it should be a easy swap and go smooth(I hope know'n my luck im sure to have a fun time with it) Oh ya and i should get alot more speed/hp out of the boat, I had a older tri-hull boat (heavy) and the johnson push that boat about 35-38 mph with me and all my fishing gear. i lookin to get at least 40+ easily. Thanks for your help on this
