I think I've had em all. Fun to flip through but none have been worthing even considering paying for.

I have taken several different ones over the years, most have more ads than useful information. Powerboat Reports was a excellent source of real world testing on boats & gear, hated to see it go down. I'am a member of BoatUS & get it's mag. The one I have found worth paying for is Heartland Boating, if you boat on the rivers & inland lakes of the heartland they have articles on marinas & cruising destinations. The only boat reviews is in the March issue on a variety of house boats. Only problem they do not publish issues during the winter so I go back and read them again while I wait for spring.

I get 'Boating' right now. I have emailed questions/suggestions and the editor generally emails you back pretty quickly. The last few issues have slimmed down quite a bit. For a while they wouldn't quit talking about pontoons which just annoyed me. Would be nice to get a mag that deals only in small run abouts. I don't need to read product reviews and write ups for radar units and other stuff rarely used in MN on our typical small boats.

There's your get-rich (not-so) quick idea...

Develop a boating mag that takes all of the best things from the others and combines them into one. Add a dose great things to do and places to go, inexpensive boating items, and girls in bikinis and you've got a winner.

Except, of course, you'll **** off the other 2 million boaters because it's not what they wanted to see...

Oh well, it was good while it lasted...

Ive subscribed to alot of different boating magazines over the year, however; the only one that seemed consistantly worthwhile was 'Boating'. Pretty broad spectrum of tests and well worded articles. Only complaint is that I doubt any of the product reviews are truly objective because, just like every magazine, they seem to like everything. Power Motor Yachts is a fun and informative tease... plus its free.
