Im redoing the seats in my boat that are totally shot. This boat isnt anything special so I'm going as cheap as I can. For foam I found a guy on ebay that sells some stuff that looks pretty reasonable. What do you think of it?

For vinyl I see people on here recommend the stuff from Joann fabrics. Its normally $13 a yard but theres a coupon on their site for 50% off right now. Thoughts?

Also Im going to need carpet for the floor. Any recommendations there?

Used the jo ann vinyl to recover my seats and they held up well last season. I'm only swapping them out because the foam and seat boxes are shot

For boat seats you want a firm foam so you don't bottom out when you hit waves. Soft cushy foam used for a living room sofa or chair is probably going to be too soft for a boat. I'm not sure what density you will need, but don't get the real soft stuff.

Make sure you use a foam for marine applications. Some of the upholstery foam available is for indoor applications only and will hold water like a sponge. Invest in some good ventilated seat covers for when you store your boat. They have kept my seats looking good for years now!

All the foam that guy's selling is too soft for boat seat bottoms.

1.5-1.7 lb density, 36-38 ILD in maybe 2-3" thick is OK for a boat seat back; but in a seat bottom that foam is only going to be good as a 1" layer over a thicker (say a 2-3"), firmer (50-60 ILD), maybe denser depending on usage frequency (2.5-2.8 lb) "base" layer.

this is one of the few things that i can respond to, i usualy ask all the questions. As far as jo-anns, they are kinda expensive. depending on where you live you can get way better prices. I go to LA all the time and there are killer prices on that stuff in the fashion district. Idk where you live but i think every major city has a fashion district.
