Help with shift cable replacement

I am having to replace the shift cable on my 1991 Stratos. I have found the break in the outter casing of the cable but I am having issues getting the controls out of the hull so I can install the new cable. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Iboats!

If you could post a pic of the control it would really help.
If it is the side mount concealed control there is either a allen head set screw at the bottom of the control handle and a screw under the center button that releases for throttle only.
It just depends on what control you have.

I got it figured out, thanks for effort to help. I found the very small set screw on the bottom side of the shifter. I am new to this forum......very helpful posts and people from what I have read so far. Thanks
