Sharp looking boat and truck, get used to the crappy mpg when towing :D
I'm sure you already know but first things you should do are: plugs, all fluids, seperator, impeller, check out the bellows as best as you can. Did you take it for a spin before buying? I know it's hard to right now, especially in the Chicago area. Also hit the adults only section and download the manuals for your drive and engine.

I actually bought it from a the bass pro shop in Gurnee i know the oil has been changed, and thats about all i know.

I didn't take it for a test drive but they de-winterized it and started it up for me. I know its a 1 owner boat and the bass pro shop are the ones who have done all the maintenance on it, its whole life he showed me all the receipts of stuff that's been done to it and what not.

I'm not real sure how to check out some of the stuff you mentioned as i don't know what half of it is lol

Have fun! I agree about taking off the trollnig motor; it does not belong on that boat!
Hope it works as a chick magnet!
Looks pretty new. Sounds like you got good info on it.

It's a 1998 i just hope it doesn't rain as much as it did last year....

i think last year the longest dry streak we had the whole summer was 9 days which is super abnormal for Illinois

Re: Picked Up My First Boat

If you put up some pics or serial #'s of the engine and outdrive we can let you know what manuals you need to download to get you started. An impeller is a little piece with fins that when spinning sucks up water through the lower half of your outdrive into the engine to cool it, like a radiator for a car. If the impeller is damaged and not circulating water you will overheat your engine. Most manufacturers recommend annual replacement of them. The bellows are the accordion looking sleeves that connect from the outdrive to the transom (rear of boat where outdrive bolts on) and keeps water out where the shift cable, drive shaft come through the back of the boat. With the outdrive raised all the way up, look for a corrugated looking rubber sleeve on the underside of the outdrive. A tear in the bellows can sink your boat. There is a water separator filter inline on the fuel line by the engine that should probably be replaced. Looks like a little oil filter, screws on/off like one. And sparkplugs depending on when they were last changed, at the least pull them and check them. Make sure the blower, bilge pump, all the nav lights work. Clean the bilge area if it's dirty (you can fined for emptying contaminated water into lakes and oceans).

For the trailer, check and lube the wheel bearings and checkout the brakes (if it has any) for wear.

That should be enough to keep you busy for awhile ;)

Nice boat. I've never heard anything but good about Ebbtides. That used boat you just bought from BassPro is probably better made than most of the new ones they sell there

Congrats!

When you remove the trolling motor be sure to seal the holes with 3M-5200...

Hehe...love the Glastrons!

That said, that Ebbtide is likely 10 times better then the new boats they sell..enjoy her! I think a good number of us are just waiting for the ice to go away!! With any luck I'll have a new water side home to go with it this spring.

Wow, apparently I did it wrong. I don't even have a boat that nice now let alone when I was 21! I need to go glare at my 30 yr old clunker in the driveway now :(
