1969 Starcraft??

Well, I stumbled across this site and already wish that I had found it earlier. I'm looking at buying this boat from a co-worker. I'll be headed up there this weekend to take a look in person, but I have a couple pictures. (If I did this correct, one of them will show up as an attachment as I couldn't figure out how to post the image.) According to the title, it is a 1969 Starcraft. I've done some searches on this site as well as fiberglassics.com and can't seem to find any boats that look like this one. Can any of you help me out and let me know if this really is a '69 starcraft, and if it is, what is the model? I got the HIN but it's only a 8 digit number (according to some websites, this should be 12 digits) I'm just trying to get some information to decide if this boat is worth it. Currently I'm fishing out of a 14 ft alumicraft from the '60s and decided it was time to get something different. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I'm sure that if I buy this boat, I'll become a frequent visitor of this site as it's going to need some restoration before I take it out.

Re: 1969 Starcraft??

Welcome to iboats!!

The HIN numbering system really did NOT start until 1972-1973.

Go here and there are listed "most" of the brochures to help. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=349830

Key marks for the identity are data plates and what the transom looks like.

Regardless of what year it is........... it's a Starcraft :D I think you will find a few around here ;)

Re: 1969 Starcraft??

I had found that thread while searching this site, and of course the brochure for 1969 isn't posted. I also looked around at other sites and couldn't find a fiberglass model from '69 with just an outboard. I'll have more information tomorrow as I'm going to look at it in person, so I'll take some pics of the transom and a few other things so I can start to plan my resto. Thanks for the confirmation, and I'm sure you'll be hearing from me a bit now that I've found iboats. I already spent hours on it last night looking at other restos.
