I want to install a Fuse Block in the cabin to supply power to my: Radar,GPS,VHF,Depth Finder,Spot light, Fish Hawk. My question is what battery selector do I run the 10ga wire from to the Fuse Block? I have twin 200 Johnsons with 2 batteries(AGM) and 2 battery selectors.
Thanks,

Run it from the "common" post of the batt switch that you consider the "house" batt. Fuse it within 7" of the common post. That way, when you turn your switches off, all your components will be off.

I'd go with a 20A fuse, then individually fuse all your components...

Sorry for my lack of Electrical knowledge, but how do I tell witch one of my batteries is the "house" batt.? And the "common" post should be the Pos/Neg on the back of the selector?
Thanks,

Ayuh,... The Selector switches Only carry the Positive side,...
Ground is direct from battery to motor...

Warrior,
Take a look at this drawing...

Now this pic is for a single engine, 2-batt setup, so your boat will simply have another batt switch. Note how there are no grounds persent, the switches simply interrupt current flow on the 12V+ side.

The common post, or C, is where you want to connect any loads that you want to turn off when you turn the batt switch off. If you move the switch to position 1, the start batt will provide the power to your house loads. Move it to 2, the house batt provides the power. Move the switch to "both", they both provide power.

You have 2 batt switches. Note which one has the smaller diameter (probably 8GA) going into it. This is the feed that feeds your helm, this would be your house batt.

Wow, this is good stuff seabob4!

So I run 8ga from the common post (assuming I've found the house batt.) up to the fuse block. And do I run a 8ga ground wire from batt 1(house batt.) up to the fuse block allowing me to have a ground?
What posistion would you have your batt. switches in while trolling, having all of your toys on, running only one of your 2000yr 200hp 2stroke Johnsons?
Thanks,

Warrior,
Do you have an existing fuse block and ground bus bar behind your helm? If so, you can simply feed both the new block and ground from the helm. 10GA would do you just fine.

Seabob4,

From the factory on a 1999 270 Coastal Wellcraft, I don't think it has a fuse block. A large dash with fuses for each switch, I might have seen something that looks like a ground bar.

Warrior,
I worked for Wellcraft from '94-'00. The 270 has a ground bus behind the helm, all the switches are protected by breakers, no fuses. Take a look at this drawing here.

In this drawing, I have shown someone how to add an extra switch to his existing switch panel. What you want to do is similar. Pull power from an ACC. breaker, pull the ground from the ground bus, run them both to your new fuse block, and your good to go. 10GA for both hot and ground, bump the accessory breaker up to a 20A breaker.

Seabob4,

My lucky day finding you and it's St.Patrick's day!

When you say pull power from the ACC. breaker is that the:
A. Amp Turn On
B. Main Accessory Harness Plus
C.12V Pos. Bus

Thanks again for what must be a dumb question,
